555

It is 5:55 am and sleep escapes me. Many would say "impossible" as I once was gifted with the ability to sleep in the top rack of the helo chief's quarters right under the arresting gear (between the 2 and 3 wires I think). Basically pretend you are sleeping under the runway at O'Hare. Tonight for some reason I was waking up every hour on the hour from 11pm on. Oh well, cup of tea blog a little then see what happens.

Thanksgiving is upon us and the stores are once again giving no thanks but hoping for a black friday shot in the financial arm. Some stores are even opening before friday gets there. just makes me wonder if any of it is worth anything. I think that IF I can get to sleep thursday night at a reasonable time, I might just boycott the whole commercialized thing and wait till saturday afternoon. How I miss TG & Y this time of year.......

Trying to understand the basics of life.....

Actually, after reading Ecclesiastes (that is how the spell checker spells it, though I wonder) I have to agree with The Preacher, the basics of life are mere vanities. If we follow the guide, we should be alright at the end of the trip but how many of us travel that way? Most of the time we get off the course we set out on and BAM, we wind up somewhere unexpected. As The Hub used to say, and I quote "Oh Very Well."  (that would be Senior Chief Hubble, for the uninitiated)

For example, I joined the Navy in '71 planning to do 6 years and getting out and working for one of the oil companies as an electronics ( radio ) tech. Would have doubled my salary but would have never made a trip to Okinawa, Iceland, Spain or Sicily, not to mention Israel, Italy, or the south of France. Nor would I have seen any of the "Spanish Riviera." Such is life, 22 years later.

Mind, traveling on the government nickle is ok, but you wind up with lovely things like "Shore Patrol" or flight deck duty { if you have never been there, you really can't imagine. The Discovery Channel has a couple of shows on carrier duty, but they can't put the taste of burning jet fuel in your nose and noise that is greater than a Grateful Dead concert. And they don't really cover liberty launches and 12 on / 12 off 7 days a week. } I'll have to warm up the old scanners and select a few pics. More later as it is now bedtime.....

First round down and one to go.

Long night that started early this morning. I'm not sure where things go from here but as long as I can make a left turn at Albuquerque it will be alright. More long tomorrow. Truly Sueliemani, it is vanity.

Politics. Multimouthed bloodsucking parasites aka congress

I am really tired of the calls. Mostly the ones from computers. A genuine person on the other end of the call doesn't bother me quite as much and I will be civil to them. I'll give their candidate some consideration but I will vote my own mind. The negative ads just bug me and tend to make me seek someone else to vote for, and if you have to point a finger, there are three of them pointing back at you. I would rather hear intelligence in your discussion over decibels of shouts. If you must scream, you do not represent me.

Personally I think Bobby Boy is running for pres. I think Billy Bob is not truthful enough and Jay Bird just isn't the best man for the job, but once again our choices are limited. So I will ask God for help and do my best to hear the Spirit in the morning and vote, not for the candidate with the most attack adds but for the candidate I think will do the least damage.

And that is really sad.

Things are getting bad......

when you come inside and your electronic thermometer tells you it is 82.3 f  and you were sure it was at least 95 out there. I just do not like the aftereffects of drugs, including antibiotics. Of course some of the aftereffects of home remedies are just as pronounced, but there you have it. Just stripped down a pair of computers and found that they were P II's. Did not realize that beforehand, but there again you have it. Now to zap a couple of 40 giggers and see what comes next. I saw where Ruby has begun a change in versions now. I guess W8 should be mumbled about shortly along with other primary system upgrades. Should we push the government to track down and just shoot the virus makers and idiot hackers, maybe string up the script-kiddies? No, I do not trust the government either. Kinda like asking Beelzebub to swat flies. (I wonder how many sci-fi readers will catch that?? If you did, remind me who wrote it as I am swimming upstream in a senior moment.)  I wonder when Apple is going to come out with Sabre Tooth (or whatever feline they think of next.) I have lost track of  Ubuntu's system names. Natty Narwhal was the last (I think) and it is running smoothly for me as I tend to update daily or whenever I bring the system up. I have to say that W7 has been doing ok so far, but as with NN I tend to update frequently and have not experienced a bad update like I had with XP one time.  Most of my W machines are still running XP quite adequately as W7 is on only 3 machines and it is likely to remain that way. Come 14 (if 12 is not the end of the world and Christ does not come) I will remove the all of the XP machines from the net and enjoy a total lack of concern about hackers, worms, viruses and governments spying on me. Maybe I will get around to that novel I thought about years ago.

Dear Mr. Polleetikciun

Dear Mr. Polleetikciun
This is Louisiana and you are running for office. I don't care what the other guy has done that was wrong. What are you going to do that would make it right. You are in the state of "Vote for the crook, it's important!" so I really don't care who voted for a raise , but are you going to revoke it?? Didn't think so. How about are you going submit a plan that puts all legislature members under a regular health plan like the rest of us? Didn't think so. So why should I give a flatulent response about how bad the other guy is?  If you have the nerve to be a positive innovator I will vote for you. If you have the guts to do what is right, show me. I don't care if it is governor, Lt. governor or chief dog catcher of Bug Tussle if it is my vote you want, try telling the truth about what you plan to do in office. If you don't have a plan, go home.

What a strange world we are on.

I've been watching movies and football most of the day, nursing a sinus headache and apparently a minor fever. Not that they influence me all that much, but maybe it accounts for the weirdness. For some odd reason Reese Witherspoon was crossing my mind and I realised that for me, her best movie is Monsters vs. Aliens with Pleasantville a kinda close second. Why, I can't tell you, at least not without deep psychoanalysis. Cameron Diaz falls into the same boat. The Shrek series far ooutshines most of her other work for me. I wonder if it because of the cartoons I grew up with.

Best line ever for Reese:  "It's not the first time."

That was the best movie for Hugh Laurie also.....

Mos qui toos

Please do not confuse them with politicians. Just because they are blood sucking parasites with little conscience and no mercy does not mean they were elected by the uneducated mindless masses, they truly were born that way. Why, I have no idea. Not by my choice I assure you. As to the other blood sucking parasites who were elected by the uneducated mindless masses, why don't we replace them with a new set this time?

Sometimes I get lost out there near the edge of my thoughts.

I was
going through some photo albums and I stumbled across this old drawing. Tom DeSalvo was (and is, as far as I know) a good illustrator and there are several more images around the house that he used me as the subject. In my Naval stint I served as the night-time flight deck chief for HS-9 and he was in the electronics shop. Last I saw of him he was working on a graphic novel (modern day comic book leaning more towards the dark side of things). The parts that he showed me seemed to be very much in touch with the times and done as well or better than what was showing up on the shelves at the stores. I wonder where he is today??  If anyone knows, tell me.

Like Jim Bob said "Strange Days"......

Somewhere out there.....

There are only three of them left. Such is life. We all will wear out eventually. These four columns have stood since about 1843. Over 150 years and they are a tribute to many things to many people. A taste of history for sure. The bricks that make them up were made by slave labor. Some will take offense to that, others will think differently, but to me they are the representation of people who worked and I think took pride in their accomplishment. One of the columns has succumbed to the ravages of time and I have a few of the bricks. To me they look like they were built by someone who understood the earth and how to shape it. We should never forget that slavery did exist in our past (and many people truly understand that the old type of slavery still exist, while fewer recognize the newer form of slavery) and it was simply a fact of life back then. I do not say it was right, just that it was.

For me, I choose the path of a free slave. I will serve Jesus by my own choice. .

Who's to say what today is?

Some call it friday. others call it last day. some call it the other day. What difference does it make? It is today and the real question is what are you going to do with it? Dinner and a movie with a daughter? that is my plan at any rate. Try it if you can.....................

The 4th was great!

We had a good group for the 4th this year. Of Aunt Al's group 53 of 77 O'briens gathered in one place. We had about 115 altogether and several regulars were unable to make it.  We especially missed JL as he is the eldest cousin now I think. Next year we again eat on the 4th. Ya'll come.

The Heat Is On!!!!!!!!

No, not summer reruns, although they do seem to be now. I am talking temp here. Heat index exceeding 100 is common and I have to wonder if it was the same back when I was young (as in under 21). I know we had hot days, but no one was tracking heat indecies back then. If it was over 90 you stayed in the shade. Or the creek. Or the bayou.  Now the bayou is sucked dry for the cane and I don't know if you can even get to the creeks anymore. Up around Loyd Bridge you have to wrestle with the gators to get wet and Cocodrie is just as bad. The rivers are falling now as the flood is apparently over judging by the amount of news coverage it is getting. Making getting fish for the 4th a chore this year. But I'll get some from somewhere.

Yeeehaw....................................

Things are ever what they seem, if you know the truth.

What does that mean? It means what you see is what you get, if you pay attention to what you see and think about it as you perceive. At least, that seems to be what Sir Arthur Conan Doyle believed. If you don't get it, read the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. You will......

Things happen for a reason....

Unfortunately, I do not always perceive the reason. That is both good and bad, good that I do not think I am smarter than God, bad that I sometimes forget that. Sometimes the reason is plainly before me, which is usually the best place to hide something from me. Sometimes the reason is obscured by the murkiness of my mind, and sometimes but the hand of the evil one. Through it all I have found that I have a firm belief that God knows more and better than I so I choose to leave it to Him. Even when I don't get the reason, I feel and believe that He knows best and the Spirit guides me through the swamplands of life to the lake brimming with perch.

I really hope to join up with Daddy there some day.

Flood and drought within 50 miles of each other.

This just feels like human interference in nature to me. No levees = natural flooding and river course changes which in turn builds things up. Levees = designed disasters in the making.

Why on earth do we listen to the government? Consistently coming up with one bad idea after another. Spend and tax seems to be the general idea and we wind up spending more than we can tax and the deficit reaches unimaginable highs. No load people (rich and poor) place the load on people that just want to work and earn their way though life and be left alone to LIVE.

Until everyone is willing to do their part to benefit the natural progress of humanity without placing demands on others, we will forever live in the quagmire of self-centered destruction.

I don't know about ya'll, but that kind of depresses me spirit.

I'm still here

I mean that from more than one angle. Didn't rapture on the 21st and everyone I know that I thought had a shot didn't either. So either the number guy got it wrong or a bunch of people missed the boat.

I vote with Jesus, no one but God knows.

Saturday, May 21, 2011

This Day

What can I say? I can say "I don't know." and it doesn't bother me. Some call it foolishness, others blindness, others things I choose not to repeat or write, but it isn't.

Is it today? If it is this writing is pointless (some say so anyway) as no one who can get what I say will be here. As I am still here, it wasn't 6am central.

Is it 6pm GMT? England wasn't thickly settled at the time nor was there a time median to be calculated from. 7k from the flood??

Maybe so, but given man's ability to tell time, I think I will stick to what Jesus said. God knows, not me.

And neither does anyone else. Statistics prove that man can manipulate math to suit his own needs. But the math of God is accurate and includes ALL possible variants, something man cannot get our tiny little minds around.

So I say leave it to God as He knows what He is doing and we don't. Is the "End of Time" near, yes, many of the signs are here. Can we "calculate" the date? I don't think so. So what do we do, we prepare for that day each day and expect Jesus to return at any time.

And "Don't Forget"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, May 01, 2011

Not random, but chaotic.

Such are the thoughts I have. Since there appears nothing wrong with the birth cert, why did it need to be hidden all these years? Knowing that the CIA is capable of almost anything (telling the truth would be a novel difference from the norm) couldn't they have put a cheap hacker to generate the paper more quickly? Were the files so messed up that it took this long to find the plant?

Gee, isn't conspiracy theory fun?

Time we got over the mistakes of the past and focus on the mistakes of the future.

I heard that someone got married a few days ago. The media is still going on about it.

I saw the destruction that occurred in Mississippi and Alabama on the weather channel.

Anybody in Europe raising money to help the homeless and others in need?

We have had march winds blowing since February. It's May. Global freezing?

My head hurts. Too much thought. Notice the correct spelling?

There is nothing new under the sun. God said so. So be it.

This doesn't mean we understand everything.
I know I don't.

What?? Who?? You've gatta be kiddin' me.

Mike, Charley, George, and David. From Grandma's collection

As I slowly assemble things for future referencing, I lose track of what I am doing. So what the heah. I see in the comics that D T is hinting about a run for office. If he was running against David Duke, maybe. Obama, I don't know, maybe if Mickey isn't running this time but it would be a hard choice to make.

I for one do not wish to see another lawyer in office. I don't want a used car salesman again either. What we need is some down to earth farmers back in office. Last seen in the 18th century I think. It is time to do away with the nanny state. If you didn't put in, there should be no getting out. Total reduction of the Fed except for people who are elected, and a few to help maintain continuity. Term limitations and no retirement umbrellas for elected officials. Politics should never be a means for making a living as it instantly turns into a means of self-gratification. No congress should ever decide on a nickel of what it gets paid. Pack of thieves will give themselves a raise every year if the country allows them to. The IRS is only the strong arm of the congressional loan sharks (who borrow money an your and my credit and expect us to pay it back). And I might add, without my consent.

Would I support Obama, doubtful. Would I run against him; not my thing but if there was no other option, I might consider it. But I can assure you that I would only last one term as I would be too severely fiscally conservative. Basically the debt would be paid off in 4 years as no one who is elected would get paid for those four years until the debt was really paid off. No mystery math, no magic math. Just plain old arithmetic. There is no excess if there is debt.

Congress would collapse, no?

My son, the cheff

Yes, I know it is supposed to be only one f. Personally I prefer sweet banana peppers, but if I'm feeling the need for heat, cayenne is as far as I go. If more is needed, perdition's fury adds more than enough for anyone. I must needs make a new batch if I can get the plants to produce. (My own special blend of dried hot peppers ground up.) Ingredients are secret and you do not have a need to know.

I turn 58 today. My target is to beat Bilbo. Genetically I know I am equipped for at least 89, but who knows. I'll be happy with whatever God may allow, but I am aiming for 134+. Several cards so far and truly gems among them. Handmade one from two of my granddaughters, snoopy cards, all perfect for me. I lost track of how many birthday greetings and wishes I have received on facebook.
Had a visit from my Navy buddy last weekend. Rick made it in time for lunch and we did a little catching up before he was back on the road again. Good visit. I'll have to dig up some really old pics to post.

Right now though, my body is confused. It is saying I'm 85. Guess lunch and a nap are in order.

Peace, Love and lollipops.

Thinking about it

We are a couple of hundred miles from the coast. Elevation is only 63 ft. The question becomes; If a tectonic plate displacement occurs, would a wave 90 ft. tall be able to reach us? When it crosses the beach down near Houma, there is no longer a water base to feed it so it immediately begins to loose force and its base begins to thin. Like spreading butter on toast, is there enough to coat the land this far in.

The problem is mathematically solvable, if you have adequate information. But is it likely enough to need to calculate it? I think not. Were the wave that tall and in the Gulf, the rest of the earth would be suffering such upheaval as to make travel impossible anyway. Jon boat, preservers, pork & beans and vienna sausages with an assist from God is what you need.

What do i know? I'm just an old guy.

Who happens to know much more than i have to tell. And yes, i do understand what your objective is. You may or may not succeed, but it will not be by your own efforts. You do not have a need to know nor do i feel a need to inform you beyond this. You are seen. You have been seen. You will be seen, and by more eyes than you know.

peon, governor, president is all the same to eyes that know.

Watch out for those that do.

and especially be aware of where i am.

Hint: if it is Sunday, try church......

Monday and I just realized this is my favorite answer city.

NO

Is that poetic or what?

Watched the Natchez turn around at the Riverwalk. Cool. Fudge and Mike Anderson's Seafood with a little wine tasting. I wasn't driving. Temperature was pleasant and the rain blew right through while we were there. Parking was expensive as everything else seems to be, but it was expected.

Think I'll skip House of Blues: too many negative vibes to me. Maybe I'll pic some houses.....

What ya thinks kids? Sound like Pops??

Sunday Night in the Big Easy

They surely are proud of things down here. Should have been twice as much cheesecake for all that money. But is was rich and tasty.. We got to town right after a parade was finishing up and people were leaving. And of course the gps was lost. Seems someone forgot to inform it about rearranging of major highways. We did tour some interesting areas of town, for sure.

Still a lot of work to be done around here. Hopefully people and companies will build smarter this time. I don't expect much from the PO though. Servers in the basement, I ask you?

Thursday, February 24, 2011

It's Thursday Night

What does that say about life? Don't ask me, I'm asking you.

Anyway, got shot today. Made some of the pain go away, so Whorey. Also made me take a three hour nap, fortunately not on a tour. Do feel somewhat better now. Hopefully now I can drop a few #'s and feel better. Oh 180 wherest art thou??

Tolerance

Tolerance is the byword today. Not mine. I am intolerant of cold weather. That would be weather below 60f. Especially when in is far enough below 60 to freeze the plumbing.

I've heard it said that Christians should apologize for the crusades. Odd thing is you can't ask for an apology from Islam for the slaughter of non-believers of mohamed during the expansion of that religion. Nor even for the modern day persecution of Christians throughout the world.

I haven't heard any frenchman's apology for the theft of Huguenot (can never remember how that is spelled) property and lives when my ancestors were run out of that country for apparently believing and trusting the king of France.

Personally, I do not apologize for slavery in this country. Yes it was real, yes human beings were bought and sold, (and for those unfamiliar with the darker side of Louisiana history it wasn't just africans who suffered this, but whites as well as every other race and ethnic group) yes it was a stupid and short sighted solution to an agrarian problem, but it is history and I don't apologize for things beyond my control. No one asked me if it was ok. In case you seek permission, the answer is no! Just ask my kids. Pop's number one answer to most questions.

I guess what it boils down to is this:
If you are truly a Christian, you can't criticize anyones morals (or lack there-of).
If you are truly a Christian, you can't talk to God outside of your closet.
If you are truly a Christian, you can't have moral standards of your own (you bigot. You're making everyone else look bad).
If you are truly a Christian, you can't use history to tell the truth.
If you are truly a Christian, you can't use the Bible to correct people or your own children.

If you are truly a Christian, you know the devil wants you to shut up and he will use all of the world to try to force you to be quiet.

Well guess what
people, I am a Christian and I will not be silent. America is doomed because it has forgotten it's past and the mistakes of europe are back to haunt us again. America has forgotten the Lord who made it possible and like Israel of ancient times, we seek to have a "king" like everyone else does and like Israel of ancient times, we may very well get one. I have predicted (not prophesied) anarchy in the past and I still believe it. Not problems in 2012 but anarchy in 2043. I'll be 90 and genetically the odds are good that I will live to see it. But as God wills, so be it. I am ready now.

It's Coooold Out There....................

Well, the next 4 nights the weather guessers are calling for way below 60. Nature installed air conditioning for us in the front bedroom but we got it plugged now.

And tomorrow is Groundhog day

Saturday, January 22, 2011

This ain't Miami Beach

and no, it's not groundhog day (yet)

My feet are cold. What does that mean?

Thursday, January 20, 2011

8 am and freezing

Of course for me it means the temp is below 60 outside. I freeze easily now. The coldest I have ever been was 30 below. That was Christmas in Maine. Ice floating in battery acid cold. Fuel oil congealing cold. I think it broke something inside because now I am driven loonier by the thought of cold weather.

And it isn't even snowing out there. Why????
